  • The facility, in planning and research since 2002, is expected to house up to 125 custom classroom environments.
  • 350,000 total square feet, with 225,000 square feet of classroom space.
  • 115,000 square feet of EdCampus™ is planned for student services, retail, corporate training spaces, lecture spaces and administrative offices.
  • EdCampus™ will offer advanced technology, modular learning spaces and a complement of services unrivaled in the world of higher education.
  • The final design and development team will exceed 100 firms and individuals from leading construction and manufacturing firms, all selected for their commitment to sustainability and groundbreaking technology.
  • Flexible learning space will include high-tech, turnkey classrooms called “E-Pods” which will meet 2020 classroom standards for flexibility, technology and furnishings.
  • The facility is being developed by Twin Cities-based Metropolitan Lifelong Learning Center, LLC, in conjunction with National Sponsors drawn from the architectural, engineering, manufacturing and construction communities.
  • Construction is planned for 2008.

Chaska, Minnesota, selected as Host Community

The site selection process for the project has been completed. Chaska, MN, will host the EdCampus™ project and will include an expansive campus with the following features:

  • Access to regional transportation and the site’s future multi-modal capacities
  • 35 acres
  • Compatibility with existing and planned infrastructure and land use guidelines
  • Exterior classroom environments
  • Public spaces and community education zones

Host Community Impact

EdCampus™ Twin Cities will be the first of its kind in the nation. The Host Community has much to gain from a partnership with EdCampus™ – a beautiful campus setting, state-of-the-art environmental features, and an influx of engaged adult learners to help spur economic development. Some of the innovative features include:

  • Platinum LEED Certification - EdCampus™ is seeking the highest ranking available from the U.S. Green Building Council. Multiple architectural consultants and designers have been retained to achieve the standards of LEED designation. This process includes advanced green space development and advances in energy conservation and storm water management.
  • A Revolutionary Educational Model - EdCampus™ blends students from different schools, organizations and backgrounds in an interactive campus setting. EdCampus™ mitigates the challenge of enduring the costly and lengthy process of designing and constructing new facilities by making customized learning space, advanced technology and supportive services available on-demand.
  • Breakthrough Technology- EdCampus™ will offer state-of-the-art technology never seen before in post secondary education.
